We are pleased to invite members to the AERL Christmas Drinks Reception, kindly hosted by the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus. We are delighted to announce that our guest of honour and keynote speaker will be The Rt. Hon. Liam Byrne MP, Chair of the House of Commons Business and Trade Select Committee. He will discuss the UK government’s delivery of the growth agenda, including industrial and trade strategies. This will be followed by a Q&A and conclude with a networking reception.

He is also the Gwilym Gibbon Research Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford and the Chair of the UK House of Commons Business and Trade Select Committee. A former cabinet minister, he served as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in No. 10 Downing Street during the global financial crisis and in the Treasury, where he designed Labour’s fiscal consolidation strategy as Chief Secretary.
