Session One: London Stock Exchange 09:30–10:15

The session will focus on one of LSEG’s most well‑known institutions – the London Stock Exchange (LSE) – a 300 year old business that continues to sit at the heart of global capital markets. This session will be led by Tom Attenborough, Head of International Primary Markets at LSE.

Participants will gain insight into:

  • Why the London Stock Exchange matters for governments and economies:
How access to the UK’s capital markets can support national development objectives, deepen domestic capital markets, attract foreign investment, and strengthen global financial connectivity.
  • The world’s most international exchange
An overview of LSE’s diverse global issuer base, the role of dual and secondary listings, and why international companies and governments choose London as their gateway to global capital.
  • Innovation at the Exchange
How the London Stock Exchange is combining deep market heritage with modern technology: leading innovation in capital markets and delivering first‑of‑their‑kind solutions that modernise the capital‑raising process.

Session Two: FTSE Russell 10:15 – 11:00

This session will focus on FTSE Russell, one of the world’s leading providers of benchmarks and indices. Benchmarks are a vital tool for investors; they create common standards, transparency and comparability across countries and asset classes, helping global capital flow more efficiently and making markets easier for international investors to understand and access. This session will be led by David Sol, Head of Policy for FTSE Russell.

Participants will gain insight into:

  • What is a benchmark and why does it matter for governments and economies? Learn how benchmarks are used by investors to guide asset allocation, assess performance, and support capital flows across countries and markets.
  • What are the FTSE Russell country classification frameworks and how do they drive investment? Understand how markets are assessed for index inclusion and reclassification, and why benchmark status matters for equity and sovereign debt markets
